I'll never forget how my Mom would occasionally catch herself after describing her latest list of age-related ailments. She'd say, "Well, I guess you've heard enough of my organ recital for now."
Not trying to minimize your suffering, but a little humor can sometimes help keep things in perspective.

another thread on here made me think of it.. its a personal peeve of mine.. you bow your head in prayer and the brother says thinks like thank you for the lessons we learned today like bla bla bla and for that wonderful point about yadda yadda yadda.
jehovah we know that etc etc etc therefore we must...well you get the gist.and on and on it goes.

I'll never forget a CO who counseled the entire audience at a CA re: the nature of our public prayers. (Which of course only applied to the penis-possessors in the audience.) His counsel was absolutely spot-on, IMO. He said something to the effect of "Brothers, Do you think Jehovah needs a refresher course on the content of the program today? (Long pause) He doesn't."
now what was the deal with this one?
my cong strictly enforced the facial hair unwritten rule.
alot of bros starting growing soul patches, then the co cracked down on that too, no more, must be clean shaven, especially ms and elders.
A recent WT backed off on the beard ban and says it's culture by culture.
Haven't heard whether or not JWs in Northern California are easing up on it or not.

by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

Just curious, how old were you when you figured out it's OK to be gay?
My oldest brother figured out he was 100% gay when he was 12 (about 6 months after getting baptized) but still thought it was the "truth" even when he came out in his mid-twenties, started dating men and got DFed. Took him about a year of being out of the JWs to realize the problem was with the religion, not him.

the issue of whether beards are acceptable or not is addressed in the september 2016 watchtower - well sort of.
it is as clear as mud as to whether they are allowed in places like australia, usa and britain.. 17. what are some factors that may affect whether a brother wears a beard?17 what about the propriety of brothers wearing a beard?

I'm very sorry to read this. WT is becoming a bit more reasonable.
Just today we ran into a former JW at local watering hole. We instantly knew that we both were not active in the church because we both were sporting beards. We could easily dispense with the "are you still in" dance thanks to the WT beard ban.
BRING BACK THE BAN!!!
